The March Green
(Upper Arlington, Ohio)
This month, we're pleased to feature the putting green of Dr. Tim March in Upper Arlington, Ohio. Working closely with Dr. March and his family to create their dream green, Putter's Edge was able to convert a lovely hillside with limited usage into a gorgeous practice facility that everyone enjoys.
Primarily intended to help high school golf team member Brian reach his potential, the new green quickly became a favorite hangout for younger brother Nathan. Both boys have improved their putting skills and confidence, making it a worthy investment for the Marches.
"I love it! It's so easy and convenient for me to work on my own game, as well," says Dr. March, a successful dentist and avid golfer. "It's literally two steps outside my basement door... but really it's there for the boys."
Brian has continued to excel, winning local tourneys against more experienced collegiate players. His Upper Arlington High School Golf Team is well-known for their consistent skills on the course, and for turning out outstanding golfers - most famously, one Jack Nicklaus.
Nathan, two years younger, is coming on strong, working hard to achieve the same success. "Both boys are very good chippers whose putting needed attention. Thanks to Putter's Edge, they're getting it done," beams their happy father.
Special Green
The unique layout features a multi-tiered green covered with Putter's Edge own PAR-2 turf, a premium surface by any standards. The construction was a real challenge, however, due to the strong slope of the land. Terry Elkin, President of Putter's Edge, was there to personally devise a specialized strategy.
"We brought in several tons of dirt and fill to build up a firm ledge with tapered sides, then created a unique underlayment that holds the curvaceous green firm and steady. It produced a very pleasing aesthetic which also has an integrated functionality designed for wedge practice," he explained. "The boys love to chip, so with the special chipping areas we installed, they can perfect their wedge shots and backspins with a high degree of realism. And that's what makes practice perfect."
"I'm very pleased," continued Tim March. "Putter's Edge turned a nearly unusable hillside into a gathering place. My golfing buddies often stop by to tune-up before we head out to the links. The kids use it even more, having friends over for parties and after softball games." (continued next column)

"It looks really cool, which is great, but the realism is the best part. The turf rolls true and straight, and with the built-in tiers, you have virtually every type of putt you can imagine."
The Marches found out about Putter's Edge from two sets of local friends who had already invested in their own Putter's Edge greens. They gave Terry Elkin a call, told him what they had in mind, and together they designed the "dream green". Now, one of Dr. March's associates wants one for himself. The word is getting out!
